The Studio

Our front end is centered around an Apogee Big Ben so no matter what pre-amp or how high the channel count, we achieve the most stable image possible.

Speaking of channel count, our input modules are 2 Presonus Digimax FS through fiber optic "light pipe" into 2 Presonus Firestudio firewire interfaces into 2, dual chipset PC's, giving us 24 to 32 direct inputs (depending on resolution) and unlimited channels at mixdown.

For those who like recording with a console we can track through a 24 input Mackie Onyx 24.4 or bypass it all together and stay "in the box".

Our preference in audio file format is .wav and our DAW of choice is Mackie Tracktion mostly due to it's flexibility with audio and MIDI files and we can run virtually any plug-ins.  We are capable of working in any environment however we are quickest and most familiar with Tracktion.

Our audio editor is Adobe Audition.  We have used this editor since it was Cool Edit Pro and it is still an industry staple for live, broadcast, and recording applications.

MIDI controllers, just a couple.  The Alesis QS6 keyboard and a Drum Kat percussion controller.

Too many plug-ins to list but if it exists I probably have it, with the exception of soft synths.

Outboard gear comes and goes so I wont get into details but I am a pro-audio dealer and installer so if we don't have it, we can buy, borrow, or rent it.  I am also a ProCo Sound cable dealer and I custom make most of my own cables.

Our favorite sub for monitoring is amazing.  This subwoofer has dual 10-inch, long-throw  Kevlar™ woofers.  The dual woofers, mechanically coupled via a rigid cylindrical housing, are electronically connected in phase and mounted with their cones in opposing directions. This causes the reactive forces of each woofer to effectively cancel one another and deliver tight, detailed bass notes that complement our stereo mains, which utilize planar ribbon technology and aluminum cone woofers for powerful dynamics.

There are no walls but intentionally placed acoustic absorption and reflection and custom bass traps leave the control area almost ruler flat  over a fairly large "sweet spot" while the main room retains it's liveliness.  There are no shortage of baffles here, and there are detached rooms for isolation as well.
